Rexam has signed a letter of intent with Heineken to acquire all the shares in the brewer’s wholly-owned subsidiary Glas Moerdijk in the Netherlands for EUR43M, including borrowings. The purchase is backed by a supply agreement with Heineken, which is also a major customer of Rexam’s beverage can operations. The group has also announced the EUR14.8M acquisition from Hunan NV of Polish bottle supplier Polglas.

CCL Industries, which – via its CCL Label Division – claims to be the world’s largest printer of primary self-adhesive labels, is now also the biggest single user of Nilpeter’s MO-3300 offset-based combination presses. Its Leeds factory has installed its fourth MO-330 eight-unit line with eight interchangeable offset/UV flexo/rotary screen stations and gravure cassette module.

Anson Packaging has commissioned a new APET extrusion line at its Highcare plant at Sutton, Cambridgeshire. Anson produces thin-wall thermoformed packs for many of the UK’s leading manufacturers and retailers.

Domino has announced the sale of its 1000th CIJ printer to Tetra Pak since the liquid food packaging specialist selected it as a coding and marking partner in 1999.

Pallet management company Whirlowdale has won a major contract from drinks producer Bacardi-Martini to operate its pool of EPAL recycled pallets. The contract involves handling up to 50 000 pallets annually.
