The investment will see installation of a new production line, which will replace two existing mineral water glass bottling lines at the facility.

The firm is also planning to introduce a fruit juice and flavored water production space at the facility to meet changing consumer demands.

Nestlé expects the new production line to increase the production efficiency of the site. The operations of a second production site in Henniez is also planned to be consolidated into the main plant as part of the upgrade, in 2019.

The investment is a part of Nestlé Water’s H2Orizon 2020 program, which aims to focus on creating flexible and competitive production solutions in order to respond effectively to customer expectations.

The H2Orizon 2020 also intends to improve efficiency by upgrading equipment and processes, as well as stimulate innovation and reduce ecological impact.

Nestlé Waters Switzerland general director Alessandro Rigoni said: “Thanks to this investment, we reinforce the Henniez production site and equip it for the future development of our strong brands.

“We have established an exemplary partnership with the most important actors of the region, notable with the ECO-Broye environmental project, which protects Henniez’ water resources. And we will continue on this path in the future.”

Earlier this year, Nestlé has outlined its plan to achieve 100% recyclable or reusable packaging by 2025.

As part of this effort, the firm plans to focus on three core areas including eliminating non-recyclable plastics; encouraging the use of plastics to allow better recycling rates; and removing changing complex combinations of packaging materials.

The firm said that the new mission is aimed at preventing packaging material ending up as waste in landfill or as litter, including in seas, oceans and waterways.
