Rigid and flexible packaging solutions provider Nelipak has unveiled its plans to establish a new flexible packaging production site in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
The new plant will expand Nelipak’s capabilities to support the growing demand for flexible packaging from Europe to the Americas.
The new location is a 110,000ft², new construction Class-A industrial building. It will be configured to Nelipak’s specifications for healthcare packaging production, including ISO-7 clean room space, and will hold ISO 13485 certification.
Expected to be operational in 2023, Nelipak aims that the project will generate about 80 new jobs and $20m of capital investment.
Nelipak said that the initiative is supported by the North Carolina loans-cash.net One NC fund as well as the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina which were key partners in the project.
Nelipak CEO Pat Chambliss said: “We are excited to announce our first flexible packaging site in the Americas region.
“This site will allow us to provide the same high-quality healthcare flexible packaging products we currently offer to customers worldwide from a new world-class facility with new state-of-the-art equipment.
“Important factors in our site selection include an attractive geographic location within North Carolina’s growing life science cluster, an available new building, a regional emphasis on training and education, a skilled local workforce, and an overall favourable business climate for healthcare-related manufacturing.

Nelipak is a producer of rigid and flexible packaging solutions for medical devices, diagnostic, pharmaceutical drug delivery, and other uses.
Currently, the flexible packaging solutions provider supplies its range of healthcare flexible packaging products to customers from three European production sites.
Nelipak’s healthcare flexible packaging product range has custom-designed roll-stock, die-cut lids and sheets, pouches and bags. These products have a line of material substrates and a range of heat-seal coating technologies Nelipak CR27 and Nelipak SBP2000.
