This press breaks MPS’ existing record of 28 metres long built in 2016, with the new press measuring an astonishing 36 metres (118 feet) of length.

The press was chosen for higher quality, faster speed, quick change-overs and higher up-time.

The EXL-Packaging press is equipped with an impressive list of state-of-the-art technology, including: 6 flexo stations, reversed flexo and reversed solvent and water-based gravure printing, hot air dryers, Kocher & Beck cassette die-stations and 3 automatic unwinders from Martin Automatic.

The press is also equipped with the latest 100% inspection technology from AVT, communicating with the stacker from Gannicott to remove failures immediately during production.

MPS project manager Harm-Jan de Jong said: “For MPS, this is a challenging and complicated project that required a lot of engineering, floor space in an external location and a lot of manpower.

“It’s an exciting project to lead, as besides the printing aspect, this press features a lot of integrated embellishment equipment that has to all work together smoothly. I look forward to seeing the press print the final product at full production speed.”
