MacDermid Printing Solutions has expanded the usage of its Stabil-X technology for the coldest narrow gap presses and the high speed web commercial presses that use tubular blanket.

The new technology, RefleX, will be introduced at drupa 2008. “The technology extends the range of papers that can be printed on offset presses, allowing for the use of more rustic papers,” says Gérard Rich, vp for innovation at MacDermid Printing Solutions.

Another development by MacDermid is new process for imaging flexographic plates that is aimed at reducing plate making costs while simplifying the workflow and increasing the speed and performance.

Direct White is built on low energy photosensitive chemical reactions and on high power laser diodes that operate at 405nm. Modulated laser light directly cross-links the photopolymer, eliminating the need for a mask associated with UV flood imaging.

Direct write is said to be two times faster than mask ablation. It is also said to addresses concerns such as handling, fragility, extraction of fumes, debris and contamination of the wash out solvents.
