Industrial barcode reading and machine vision technology firm Microscan Systems has acquired Label Vision Systems (LVS), a company specializing in label and print inspection as well as barcode verification for undisclosed amount.

Microscan plans to fully integrate LVS into its operations, and use its name as a brand within its barcode label verification portfolio.

LVS’s products and services are said to help firms scan barcodes, both off-line and in-line, to check compliance with unique device identification (UDI) and GS1.

Microscan president Scott Summerville said: "The leadership team at Microscan has a strong interest in developing and investing in LVS’s technology and products to support the market, which is expanding due to regulatory trends and corporate quality initiatives.

"We will have the opportunity to accelerate the expansion of LVS products and solutions into key international markets, and to leverage the substantial synergies between LVS and Microscan sales, technology, and operations."

Established in 1982, Microscan has its forte in precision data acquisition and control systems to cater to a spectrum of automation and OEM applications. The company offers services for ID tracking, traceability, and inspection, among others.
