Packaging machinery firm Massman Companies has acquired Illinois-based privately held cartoning machine designer Ultra Packaging (UPI).
UPI designs robust vertical and horizontal automated cartoning machines for the food, personal care, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries.
These high-speed continuous motion devices are offered in manual to full robotic loading configurations.
UPI represents the latest acquisition for Massman in the automated packaging sector. The addition of Ultra Packaging’s cartoning products will expand Massman’s product portfolio to offer full-line solutions from carton or bottle to pallet.
Massman Companies will combine the personnel in sales, customer service, and engineering teams of both firms to better serve the customers.
UPI owner and president Bob Stockus said: “I am thrilled that UPI is now part of the Massman family of packaging machinery solutions. The resources Massman can provide will build and expand the customer partnerships.”
Massman provides a range of automated packaging equipment including pouch filling, unscrambling, capping, case packing, shrink wrapping, palletizing and liquid filling solutions.
Additionally, the firm offers customised bottling and packaging equipment for a wide variety of industrial, food, beverage, OTC pharma, and consumer product applications.
Commenting on the deal, Massman Companies president and CEO Jeffrey Hohn said: “Companies are increasingly looking for efficient solutions to improve output and lower costs.
“Cartoning, shrink wrapping, and case packing are three technologies often performed together. Massman’s offering of reliable and robust products in all three categories simplifies our customers’ path to automated packaging.”
