Offset printing manufacturers and service providers Manroland web systems and Goss International have combine their printing press businesses.

The combined company, which will operate under the brand name ‘manroland Goss web systems’, will benefit from the two companies’ complementary geographic footprints.

In addition to providing product range and long-term stable customer support in the web printing market, the new combined entity is expected to create better synergies while ensuring long-term viability, and provide value-oriented solutions, the two firms said.

manroland Goss web systems will focus on four main business areas including System Solutions to offer automated press and post-press equipment including pre-owned offerings, press relocations; and engineered solutions to provide mechanical, automation and closed-loop solutions for all types of presses.

It will also concentrate on service solutions to provide service in parts, labor, tele-support and performance based service agreements, as well as E-Commerce Solutions to provide electronic marketplace for efficient ordering and logistics performance for all suppliers to the web offset industry.

Additionally, the new company will continue its activities in the fields of innovative web printing systems, services, consumables and system components for the newspaper, commercial, packaging and digital printing markets.

Manroland Goss web systems CEO Alexander Wassermann said: “Both manroland web systems and Goss International were on a sustainable path to success.

“We will strengthen this path by increasing our global reach, continuing our innovative and focused R&D activities, and enhancing our market presence through targeted consolidation. Our customers will be able to choose from an even broader portfolio of products and services, supported by the industry leading e-commerce platform MARKET-X.”

The merger, however, excludes Contiweb business of Goss International as well as the manroland web production business.

Wasserman earlier said: “manroland is on the path for continued success. We want to continue to develop this path by creating synergies, fostering the further development of our R&D activities and strengthening our innovation focus.”
