Employee-owned flexible packaging printing and converting company, Lithotype has operations in the West Coast and the Midwest.

The firm’s portfolio of manufacturing tools includes web offset and flexography presses, laminators, cantilever slitters, color management systems and auto-registration technologies.

The Contiweb Thallo web offset system is said to be a robust and economic solution for shorter run lengths and is designed to provide enhanced flexibility and increased productivity, while maintaining excellent print quality for packaging manufacturers.

Lithotype senior vice-president Bob Shoreen said: “Growing SKU counts and increasing graphics demands coupled with shorter lead times are increasingly becoming the norm within the markets we serve.

“The Thallo will provide our customers with exceptionally high print quality in combination with ultra-fast make-readies by utilizing a cost-effective sleeve-based web offset system.

“The Thallo now makes it possible for us to set up jobs in a matter of minutes and the system’s many waste-reducing features deliver an unmatched solution for both short and long run packaging jobs.”

The new press ordered by Lithotype features environmentally friendly electron beam curing technology designed to reduce the consumption of natural gas and VOCs used in the production process.

Additionally, the press’ EB inks are 100% solid which reduce VOCs to nearly zero, Contiweb said.

Contiweb said in a statement: “With packaging producers under intensifying pressure to cut costs, reduce turn-around times and achieve higher print quality, web offset is often a better alternative to the flexo and rotogravure process currently used by many packaging converters.”

The firm noted that its Thallo web offset systems are produced and distributed under a partnership between Contiweb and DG press.

Contiweb plans to showcase its solutions at INFOFLEX 2018 event to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, US from 7-8 May.
