Korea’s packaging converter firm Cheonil has installed Comexi R2 gravure printing press at its plant in Gwangju-city.

The Comexi R2 gravure printing press has been installed to produce functional flexible packaging solutions.

The press will help the company to produce pouches, transparent barrier packaging materials, retort food, as well as other household and industrial packaging soluuions.

Earlier, Cheonil invested in Comexi SL2 solventless laminator, and is also planning to purchase another gravure printing press that will work with water base inks.

Designed to meet the needs of current flexible packaging market, Comexi R2 gravure press integrates machine control with mechanically driven systems,

The system also features Siemens Simotion technology that helps increase energy savings and ink system of variable volume that decreases ink usage.

Comexi R2 is provided with touch screen panel to facilitate maximum use and trolleys to reduce changeover times, as well as in blade systems and dryers to enhance efficiency.

With a speed of 400m per minute, the press can print with materials of width up to 1350mm and formats ranging from 450mm to 920mm. In addition, the machine supports water-based printing.

Comexi’s business unit director David Centelles said: “This gravure press offers quick job changeovers, reduces waste, provides mechanical stability at high speed and offers greater adaptability and flexibility with a significantly reduction of ink usage.

“Moreover, incorporates a trolley system that allows quick job changeover in order to considerably reduce downtime in the printing process, one of the most demanded requirements in the current market.”
