Food packaging solutions provider KM Packaging has provided a new compostable bag, C-Bag, for UK-based pasta delivery service Nonna Tonda.

The new solution is a printed industrially-compostable zipper bag from KM Packaging’s C-Range that has been developed in partnership with Treetop Biopak.

According to KM packaging, the bag has spaces to improve the branding, maintain the freshness of the pasta and fit into Nonna Tonda’s mailing boxes.

The pasta delivery firm will replace its traditional plastic packaging with new sustainable bags.

KM Packaging’s C-Range of biodegradable bio-plastic packaging products include shrink wrap, stretch wrap, cling film, sticky tape, and nets which have the same qualities and similar appearance and feel as conventional plastic.

Based on the material, the products will biodegrade if disposed of properly through home composting or industrial composting,

The bags were first tested at Nonna Tonda as part of their selection process and proven to be well suited to the manufacturing and supply chain needs.

They secured and preserved the product supplied by post with an effective print design for the brand, said the packaging firm.

Nonna Tonda founder James said: “The bags are resealable and allow our product to remain fresh for longer periods. Also, our branding requirements were met by the bag being customisable.

“In addition, the bags have helped us to be even more eco-friendly and have improved customer satisfaction.

“We have received excellent service, all our requirements were handled with swiftness and ease, and we have gained the exact product for our needs.”

The C-Bag, which is said to be ideal for bakery and fresh produce, is made from renewable resources and uses a variety of materials in varying grades. It can be used as a carrier or trash bag for food and non-food purposes, said KM.

Last month, KM Packaging launched a lidding film range, K-Reseal, for fresh produce supplier Best Berries.
