The opening ceremony for Tokyo Pack was a serious occasion, particularly as it took place in the presence of Her Imperial Highness The Princess Nobuko of Mikasa.
An audience of over 300 people representing the country’s packaging industry attended the event and, as this was Japan with its deep-seated love of packaging, it was featured on TV too!
Andrew Streeter, a long time expert on Japanese pack-aging and its cultural and commercial drivers, was invited to be a guest of honour and delivered an opening address.
Mr Streeter hopes there will be increased co-operation between the Institute of Packaging in the UK and the Japan Packaging Institute, sponsors of Tokyo Pack.
