US-based Izzio Artisan Bakery has introduced a new fully at-home recyclable packaging bag as part of its sustainability efforts.

The 100% recyclable bags will be part of the company’s take & bake breads campaign.

Izzio Artisan Bakery said that the new offering is bakeable in nature as it can bake bread right in the bag.

The firm said that the bag, which is made from 100% PET #1 plastic, can be easily recycled in most curbside bins, whereas flexible plastic packaging recycling programmes require consumers to send empty packages to a facility or drop them off at the store.

Izzio Artisan Bakery claims that its bread is all-natural, non-GMO project verified, Kosher, vegan and plant-based.

The bread is said to be 100% traceable as they can trace the grains back to their farmers and then to the miller who turns it into fresh flour.

Izzio chief commercial officer Sara Kafadar said: “It’s important to us to make recycling not just possible, but also really accessible to our community.

“As the most widely recycled type of plastic, PET #1 was the obvious choice for our new packaging material. We know our customers value sustainability, but we also know that they value their time, so removing pain points and eliminating extra steps was a priority.”
