A suncare lotion pack manufactured by Airspray for Schering Plough in the US incorporates what the Dutch company claims is a world first in pump dispensing technology.
The new line extension to Schering-Plough’s Coppertone suncare brand – Endless Summer Sunless Tanning Foam – is said to be the world’s first ever consumer product to feature a dual-chambered instant foam mechanism. With a single pump of the actuator the two active ingredients – dihydroxyacetone and Coppertone’s proprietary colour activator – combine at the exact moment of dispensing.
The dispensers provide instant foam without chemical propellants. With foam delivery claimed to enhance the distribution of the effective ingredients needed in personal care applications, the technology should prove popular.
Airspray global marketing manager Norbert de Jong says: “While there are already a number of dual chamber dispensers for lotions available, we believe this is the world’s first such pump dispenser for foam-based goods.
“Potential applications might typically include haircare products, shaving foams and upmarket skincare products such as anti-wrinkle and anti-ageing solutions.”
He expects to see the system’s first application in Europe within six months.
