Koroberi’s B2B Research Centre has conducted an on-line survey of the use of reverse on-line auctions in the materials handling industry. More than 1,200 participated in the survey, which revealed some interesting and surprising attitudes among material handling sellers and buyers.

About 20 per cent said they have used reverse on-line auctions, and another 20 per cent intend to. Sellers indicated that focus on price over value was an extremely important concern, scoring 8.20 on a scale of 1.00 to 9.00. Buyers cited demotivation of vendors as a 5.00.

Buyers who have participated in or plan to use reverse on-line auctions said they were fair as a process, scoring them a +0.33 on a scale of -1.00 to +1.00. Sellers, on the other hand, said they were unfair, scoring them -0.40. However, sellers who had actually participated in reverse on-line auctions scored them a -0.79.
