A new packaging event for fmcg sectors has been launched by Reed Exhibitions. Following the “incredible success” of the Packaging Innovation Show feature at Total Processing & Packaging 2004,

The Packaging Innovation Show 2005 is to be held at the Birmingham NEC, next September 27-29.

The new show will focus on brand, retail and consumer needs covering all areas of packaging and packaging innovation.

According to show director Barbara Jackson, the Packaging Innovation Show feature in 2004 attracted nearly 6,000 visitors from the brand, design and marketing communities.

“It is an acknowledged dynamic in the industry that packaging suppliers want to make contact with marketing and brand managers within customer organizations and this was the real triumph of the Packaging Innovation Show feature in 2004,” she enthuses. “At the same time, marketing and brand managers have a real need and hunger for new ideas that are not always met. The launch of the Packaging Innovation Show 2005 has been designed to bridge this gap.”

The show will feature centres for design, including the 2020 Design Challenge and seminar programme on the major trends and enabling technologies for the consumer of tomorrow; smart packaging; and contract packaging services. It will also provide an environment in which all elements of the packaging materials and containers sector can exhibit their consumer packaging offerings.

To be held alongside the PPMA Machinery Only Show, the new event is said to answer the calls of 72 per cent of those interviewed during visitor research at Total for a biennial packaging exhibition. The cross-over between the two events will offer visitors the opportunity to view industry developments across both disciplines.
