Industry leaders at AMI’s global BOPET Film 2017 conference

Industry leaders at AMI’s global BOPET Film 2017 conference

Leading industry professionals and experts from around the world will be coming together in Cologne for the BOPET Film conference on 26-27 September 2017, organised by specialist plastics industry consultancy AMI.

After its successful launch last year, the conference will once again provide a unique networking opportunity and a high-level forum to discuss the latest developments and issues in the evolving BOPET industry. BOPET film is one of the fastest growing polymer substrates with demand expected to top 4 million tonnes this year and forecast to reach 5.2 million tonnes by 2020 according to AMI Consulting. An explosion in new capacity in recent years has led to oversupply of BOPET films which combined with the falling crude oil prices has resulted in weak pricing and poor margins making the operating environment for BOPET film producers increasingly challenging. The industry will continue to bring value added opportunities but given the changing demands and structure of supply, industry players need to anticipate change quickly and formulate response strategies to maintain and grow market power.

BOPET Film 2017 encourages participants to look at technology, processes and solutions in an open innovative environment which is increasingly demanded by global brand owners. This aspiration is supported by a diverse programme of presentations by industry leaders throughout the supply chain covering trend setting material, technology and process developments and providing the perspective of film producers and buyers.

International flexible packaging converter Wipak will discuss film sourcing requirements and how purchasing trends may change in the next decade. Major film producers will share their views on market trends, business conditions and product development for BOPET films: Jiangsu Xingye Polytech will talk about the BOPET films market and business environment in China; Mitsubishi Polyester Film will discuss new trends in packaging and protective films; innovative polyester films from both technical and business perspective will be explored by Toray Films Europe. A comprehensive overview of the BOPET films market trends and developments will be provided by AMI Consulting and Adjuvo will look at the European legislative environment for the regulation of packaging inks.

Delegates will hear about material developments from Sukano and Selenis. The programme will also look at technology and process developments that can help enhance film performance and improve efficiency, with presentations from Kampf, Kuhne Anlagenbau, Purolator Advanced Filtration, Hannecard, Aquafil Engineering and Coating Plasma Industrie. NDC Technologies and Emtec will cover process control and measurements while downstream processing developments will be discussed by Henkel, Bobst, Kroenert and Fraunhofer.

In addition to the packed two-day programme of expert presentations, BOPET Film 2017 also provides highly effective platform to meet with likeminded professionals from leading companies and organisations at all levels of the value chain.
