New Zealand based Pacific Inks has opened a new water based ink plant in the UK. The new facility at Church Gresley is expected to develop into a state-of-the-art plant to handle growing business in the UK and exports to mainland Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The new operation is already on stream with production, distribution and warehousing. Extra space is available for expansion, and an r&d laboratory will be added by March, 2002. “This will enable us to do r&d locally, rather than relying on other plants around the world – some as far afield as New Zealand,” says sales manager Gordon Simpson.

More plant will be installed to raise capacity to serve the growing European and the Middle East markets, where corrugated companies, film producers and envelope manufacturers are all key users of water-based inks.
