In-line measurement of thin coatings

Scalar Technologies unveilled its new generation of in-line coating thickness measurement systems at the International Converting Exhibition, in Munich.

The ScalarGauge F is a complete control and management system for non contact measurement of the thickness of very thin coatings on plastics film. It will operate at any web speed and measure thickness from several microns down to one nanometre. If required, it can be connected to existing plant automation systems through the OPC (Object Linking and Embedding for Process Control) software platform.

Data can be displayed in a variety of formats including profile, trend and roll map plots, or exported over Ethernet for remote analysis and storage.
