Hotline for reporting PRN fraud

In response to industry concerns about enforcement of the Packaging Waste Regulations, the UK’s Environment Agency has set up a dedicated, confidential phone line. The number – 0207 0914026 – goes to an answer phone where callers can record details of any packaging enforcement related issues. It is open to anyone with concerns about fraudulent reprocessor activity or ‘free-riding’ – companies who are not declaring their packaging obligation under the Producer Responsibility Regulations.

Information received will be analyzed and assessed by the EA, and then acted upon. The phone line will be operated for three months, and then assessed.
