Holographic helper

A narrow web embossing machine has been developed for holographic applications by NW Systems. The model NW2000 is said to be compact and competitively priced to meet the needs of the smaller quantity print/packaging market. Several manu- facturers of holographic products are using it for such applications as product promotion/enhancement, advertising and product authentication.

The CE certified, floor standing machine measures only 1m wide by 1.2m high. It will emboss a wide range of materials up to 200mm width at a speed of 30m/min, including metallized polyesters for hot stamping, the thicker 48 micron foils for label making, and clear acetate for creating holographic over-laminates. It can also produce material in register.

Add-ons include an off-wind web guidance system for poorly wound rolls of raw material and, where certain specialized heat sensitive materials are to be embossed, a retrofitted cooling system. Other products presently under development include low cost, low resolution holographic dot matrix origination equipment, a simple coating and laminating machine and electro-forming equipment to produce the master shims for the NW2000.
