UK beer brand Hobgoblin has partnered with Ardagh Group to launch its Ruby and Gold beer in a 5L format.

The UK-based brewery stated that it chose Ardagh’s kegs because they provide a smoother ‘pull and tap’ action which is convenient to use.

The company also stated that by using Ardagh’s kegs it will benefit from the growth of the off trade mini keg format.

Ardagh claims that its new keg offers customers the same experience of a pint being poured at their favourite pub or having a beer at home.

Other features of the keg include a new venting system, an airtight resealable plug that increases shelf life by several more days, even when the keg is opened.

The large surface area also takes the full advantage of the product’s branding, which was reproduced at Ardagh’s keg manufacturing unit in Germany.

Ardagh’s new range of kegs include the Top Keg Plus, available in 3.1 and 5 litre. These are integrated with CO2 pressure control system which claims to keep chilled beer fresh for up to 30 days. The two types of kegs can be filled on existing lines.

These metal kegs are impermeable and offer a total barrier against light, bas and oxygen. Additionally, they are also unbreakable, are impact-resistant to keep the contents inside safe.

Marston Production Site Manager Neil Chapman said: “The keg is an increasingly important part of our packaging portfolio, and we are absolutely delighted to be working with Ardagh Group to take full advantage of their 5L keg with new tapping system.

“I’m sure that both existing and new customers will enjoy the experience of consuming their favourite beer from this keg in their homes or on special occasions.”

Recently, Ardagh has offered a new beverage can which has both matte and gloss finish and named it ‘Matte & Mirror Impact’.
