Güdpod has entered into an exclusive partnership with Italy-based Imper for the distribution of its patented, compostable and pod-based beverage technology called Güdpod Compostables in North America.

Claimed to be the first of its kind, Güdpod Compostables are also suitable to be used with Keurig K-Cup coffee & tea and Nespresso espresso pod brewing platforms.

Güdpod is offering its compostable pods in Mitaly branded Keurig K-Cup and Nespresso compatible pods.

Mitaly, which is a premium Italian coffee and espresso beverage brand, is available in different roasts and flavour profiles.

The pod-based beverage system is said to be 100% compostable within 90 days in commercial composting facilities and provide a 24-month guarantee.

Güdpod stated that it avoids the use of virgin plastic, metals or petrochemicals in its compostable cups.

The plant-based multi-layer substrate of the pod helps to preserve the contents from oxygen, light, and moisture degradation for two years.

According to the company, all Güdpod compostable capsules were strictly tested and fully certified by the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI) and multiple other sustainability organisations.

Güdpod CEO Chris Rohde said: “Although single-serve brewing systems have revolutionized how we consume coffee, tea and espresso beverages, more and more consumers are concerned by the tremendous waste of single-use plastic and aluminium and the damage to our environment.”
