Production of non wovens in Western Europe rose by 8.8 per cent last year, to 909,800t. According to industry association EDANA, the region's output of non wovens has now doubled in less than 10 years.

“In 2000, I expect non wovens production to grow again sizeably,” predicts secretary general Guy Massenaux.

EDANA estimates the industry’s turnover for 1999 at about €3,600M – “showing no progress in relation to 1998”.
