Graphic Packaging International has expanded its PaperSeal tray range with the introduction of a new dual-ovenable PaperSeal Cook tray.

The new PaperSeal tray technology can be used by customers for oven and microwave-ready chilled and frozen food applications.

Graphic Packaging already launched PaperSeal Slice and PaperSeal Wedge trays for sliced meat and cheese applications.

The company has designed the PaperSeal Cook tray using 80% less plastic compared to traditional trays.

The PaperSeal Cook tray is provided with a one-piece continuous sealing flange to avoid leaks and maintain robustness across the supply chain.

Upon using, the consumer can easily separate the liner film from the paperboard to make the paperboard portion of the tray recyclable via normal collection channels.

Graphic Packaging global innovation and new business development SVP Ricardo De Genova said: “Many of our customers are seeking to minimise the amount of plastic packaging they use in a category that has traditionally been dominated by CPET trays.

“We’ve transferred our PaperSeal technology to a convenient fibre-based ovenable and microwaveable solution that has all the benefits of the PaperSeal tray along with a liner that can withstand the high temperatures required in cooking.”

Graphic Packaging intends to use 100% fully recyclable products by 2025 to meet its Vision 2025 goals.

Last month, Graphic Packaging agreed to acquire fibre-based consumer packaging solutions provider AR Packaging for $1.45bn.
