US-based company Nuconic Packaging provides thermoformed polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic packaging for the food industry.

It is engaged in manufacturing containers and lids in a wide variety of shapes and sizes as well as specialized packaging for cakes and other food products.

Graham Partners’ undisclosed investment in Nuconic Packaging follows acquisitions of US-based Tray-Pak and EasyPak.

Graham Partners expects that the investments will support its strategy to become a top tier, mid-sized packaging provider.

The firm said that Nuconic’s approach to product and tool design will allow Graham to deliver an expanded offering to the market.

Graham Partners managing principal Adam Piatkowski said: “Graham Partners is very excited to partner with the Nuconic team, led by industry veteran Alan Franz; the company has experienced strong growth driven by a strategic market focus and strong customer relationships, and we have identified significant synergies due to the expanded geographic coverage and capabilities of the combined platform.”

Nuconic also expands Graham Partners’ footprint to the West Coast, which the investment firm expects to be a key growth area in future.

Nuconic CEO Alan Franz said: “The Nuconic team is enthusiastic about our partnership with Graham Partners, and we look forward to the support they will bring to pursue further growth opportunities in this expanding market.”

Graham Partners is engaged in acquiring and investing in higher growth, middle-market consumer and industrial manufacturing-related companies.

The firm acquired thermoformed packaging solutions provider Tray-Pak from an affiliate of Archbrook Capital Management.

Tray-Pak produces products such as trays, deli containers, display trays, trifolds, lids and domes.

With in-house tooling and 3-D printing capabilities, the company produces plastic packaging solution for food, consumer goods, medical and industrial applications.
