Plastic packaging solutions provider Graham Packaging is planning to invest $6.7m to expand its plastics manufacturing operation in Campbell County, Virginia, US.
The new investment is expected to create eight new jobs while training 37 existing employees to operate the next technology.
Graham Packaging plant manager William Campbell said: “Graham Packaging chose to expand in the Commonwealth of Virginia because we already had a foundation in the Altavista area with a skilled workforce and an established customer base who has been seeing rising demand.”
Graham Packaging’s new job creation and job retraining will be supported by the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) through its Virginia Jobs Investment Programme (VJIP).
Under the state-funded VJIP, companies creating new jobs or experiencing technological change are offered consultative services and funding.
Campbell County board of supervisors Altavista representative Stan Goldsmith said: “Graham Packaging has been a great presence in Campbell County for quite some time and has had numerous previous expansions.
“They have and continue to provide great products to their customers and are a great employer for their workers. We welcome and congratulate Graham on their latest expansion and look forward to their continued presence and growth in the Altavista area.”
Graham Packaging is engaged in the designing, selling and manufacturing of custom blow-moulded plastic containers for foods and beverages, personal care and specialty products, household goods, chemical-based solutions, and automotive lubricants.
