Hummingbird is said to be first packaging supplier in North America to offer 110-inch wide web capability for digital pre-print at lengths limited only by converting capability.

The technology enables to provide quality and digitally printed corrugated packaging within short time compared to traditional methods. It also delivers a new range of marketing and supply chain management opportunities for brands.

According to the company, the size, quality and speed of the press also enhances the cost effectiveness of digitally printed packaging.

Hummingbird general manager Sergio Morales said: “Hummingbird’s digital inkjet printing enables even the largest brands to deliver consistent and timely marketing messages across all platforms, including their physical packaging.

“Innovative companies looking to create a true omni-channel customer experience have a new, unmatched tool at the ready with Hummingbird.”

Hummingbird is the next development of Georgia-Pacific’s digital pre-print service, which started with its investment in the HP PageWide Web Press T400S in 2015.

The new digital print service aggregates in-house print expertise and the firm’s extended convertor network with the technical capabilities of the HP PageWide Web Press T1100.

Hummingbird provides brands with easy packaging updates for seasonal promotions and other marketing messages.

The digital print service also offers new solutions for retailer-specific packaging and private label and holds capacity to print the precise lines needed to facilitate interactive marketing and augmented reality.

Hummingbird service also offers pre-printed rolls directly to plants and converters, helping suppliers to provide customers with advanced digitally printed packaging solutions.

In May 2017, Georgia-Pacific completed a $388m energy improvement project at its Brewton containerboard mill in Alabama.

Georgia-Pacific Corrugated offer a range of products and services which include CubeLogic Greenshield, Color-Box Litho-Corr and Brand Ready Packaging.
