Fillmore Packaging has become the first major UK packaging distributor to be recognised under the BRC/IOP Technical Standard for Companies Manufacturing and Supplying Food Packaging Materials for Retailer Branded Products.
The BRC/IOP scheme is relatively new and was developed jointly by the British Retail Consortium and the Institute of Packaging to improve and maintain hygiene standards in food packaging.
The award recognises the quality of Fillmore’s warehouses, systems and procedures for storing and delivering food packaging and is in addition to its ISO 9001:2000 qualification.
Albert Stankiewicz, the company’s logistics manager,said: “We have two members of staff who have qualified in Packaging Hygiene Management and all of our suppliers who supply products identified as critical to our food industry customers are being audited to ensure that they comply with the necessary standards.”
