German speciality chemicals company Evonik has expanded its TEGO RC (radiation curing) silicone product portfolio with the introduction of a new TEGO RC 1442 silicone release coating.

Based on the company’s existing RC 1400 series technology, the new TEGO RC 1442 silicone release coating has been developed for fast curing pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) applications.

Designed to provide better anchorage to substrates, the new silicone release coating is said to deliver stable release values over time even under humid storage conditions.

It is expected to strengthen Evonik’s position in the global pressure sensitive adhesives market.

Evonik TEGO RC Silicones global head Stefan Stadtmueller said: “The increasing demand from our PSA market customers for globally available, easy-to-apply and high-performing UV curable products inspires us to continually review our portfolio to ensure that we deliver the solutions our customers need to meet changing market dynamics like the growth in online shopping.”

Evonik has commercialised the new silicone release coating across the globe.

TEGO RC silicones are suitable for release liners for use in all applications. They are used in industrial release liners, self-adhesive labels, graphic arts, tapes and hygienic products including, food packaging and food contact applications.

Evonik offers two UV curable silicone release systems, which are solventless and produce release coatings without using heat.

The first release system is based on silicone acrylates and cures through a free radical mechanism, while the second release system uses epoxy silicones and cures in the presence of a cationic photo catalyst.
