CIP4 has assigned Esko-Graphics to head its JDF pack workgroup, based on the company’s extensive expertise in packaging workflows. The chairman will be Lieven Plettinck, R&D manager for front end software at Esko-Graphics. An active member of CIP4, Esko-Graphics has invested considerably in the integration of JDF capabilities into its Scope end-to-end supply chain management workflow for commercial print and packaging service providers. Scope covers a wide range of functions, from job and product specification, through graphic and structural design and expert pre-production operations, to plate making for printing and tool making for converting.

The objective of the pack workgroup is to define JDF extensions for packaging and label printing workflow, and to create additional documentation about JDF based packaging and label printing workflows.

CIP4 is an worldwide operating standards body located in Darmstadt, Germany. It aims to encourage computer based integration of all processes that have to be considered in the graphic arts industry, in particular the specification of Job Definition Format standards.
