Sustainable food and beverage containers producer Ello has expanded its product portfolio with the introduction of a new reusable water bottle.
The new Eco Ello Tritan 26oz water bottle has been produced using Eastman Tritan Renew with 50% certified recycled content.
Ello said that it is selling its new line of sustainable water bottles at Target stores in the US and online.
Ello design director Glen Gilmore said: “Tritan Renew is the first recycled plastic material that stands up to the quality demands of our products and process, so we jumped at the chance to design a bottle that matches the sustainable qualities of the material itself.
“The bottle minimises material use while maximising durability and cleanability to extend the overall life of the product.”
Tritan Renew has been developed using Eastman’s Advanced Circular Recycling technologies, which also called molecular recycling.
The process involves the break-down of plastic waste into fundamental building blocks to produce pristine new materials.
It will help replace traditional fossil feedstocks with recycled plastic and divert plastic waste from landfills and incinerators or from ending up as litter in the ocean.
According to Eastman, the Tritan Renew material is durable, dishwasher safe and free of BPA, BPS, and BPF.
Eastman speciality plastics commercial director Courtland Jenkins said: “The Ello Eco Bottle is another great example of using Tritan Renew to demonstrate what is possible, right now, with Eastman’s Advanced Circular Recycling technologies.
“We’re thrilled to be part of Ello’s sustainability journey to make small changes now that add up to big impact for the future.”
Earlier this year, Eastman announced plans to build a plastic-to-plastic molecular recycling facility at its Kingsport site in the US state of Tennessee.
