Tower Rack metal packaging has been developed to simultaneously meet the requirements of several areas of the supply chain such as packaging, storage and supply line.

Tower Rack, which is around 4m high, integrates flexible packaging with an intelligent vertical movement system that makes it easy to fill and empty parts.

Developed for industries with high part turnover, the new Tower Rack is more useful for the internal logistics of production plants.

The packaging is a metal structure that helps to bring all the required parts closer to the operators and enhances the space on the assembly line by avoiding fixed shelves and pallets.

Tower Rack will also help minimize the space in the warehouse, as it is the portable tower that can move around the factory by supplying parts.

Lean trains or autonomous guiding vehicles (AGV) can be used to move the Tower Rack manually across the supply chain, enabling to better monitor its transit. Tower Rack enables to increase in-line productivity by reducing supply units.

The metal packaging is provided with mobile internal air-conditioning system. A manual or electric device enables the switchgear to move vertically to facilitate access, ergonomics and safety for the operators.

The reduction of traffic movements across the production plan will also help reduce work-related accidents.

Tower Rack has been designed to offer line operators with the necessary parts to carry out their work without wasting time searching for such parts. It also helps to reduce assembly line space and static storage.

DS Smith Tecnicarton also produces various packaging, bulk packaging and returnable systems.

DS Smith Tecnicarton marketing manager Alicia Correa said: , “the company’s commitment is to customise projects to the needs of each client and to optimise logistics.

“the automation of processes and the incorporation of robots in all areas of the company, including logistics, allows us to develop new innovative products that join the so-called Industry 4.0 where everything is connected and controlled.”
