Sustainability is important to the largest pizza chain in Finland, DS Smith’s customer Kotipizza. The chain was founded more than 30 years ago and during that time pizzas for take away and delivery have been packed in fully recyclable, sustainable pizza boxes with high product safety and traceable packaging materials.
Due to the pandemic, the Finnish Government ordered all restaurants to either close or switch to take away sales at the end of March 2020. As many restaurants started up their take away operations, Kotipizza already had the experience and expertise.
The company has significantly increased sales of products online, as well as increased new home delivery areas to its distribution coverage. To be able to respond to this increased demand for pick-up and delivery of pizzas, Kotipizza turned to DS Smith which already produced its pizza boxes.
