Packaging company DS Smith has introduced a new erectable and reusable tray with a side automatic base, as part of its sustainable efforts.

Featuring two lateral automatic bases, the stable and material-optimised packaging solution can be erected to save time in logistics.

With smart and 100% recyclable construction, DS Smith’s new sustainable tray is produced using 100% corrugated cardboard.

The reusable tray can be folded up again and stored in a space-saving manner until it is required again and when it is not used, stated the company.

DS Smith’s team in Germany has designed an easily and safely stackable reusable tray for a wide variety of sectors and uses.

DS Smith stated that its designers consistently apply the Circular Design Principles along with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation.

Available with flat and pre-glued, the new tray can be erected on-site within a few steps.

The integrated stacking lugs will enable to safely stack several trays and without slipping, and the reinforced corners enable to maintain high load-bearing capacity.

Its automatic bases on the sides allow them to fold again quickly and easily when they are not used again, thereby helping to preserve them for the next use.

Last month, DS Smith opened its first hybrid customer innovation hub in Lisbon, Portugal.

The facility will allow the company to connect in person with customers across the Iberian region and remotely with international representatives.
