The Drytac Europe facility in Bristol, UK, which manufactures laminating and mounting products for the graphic arts and framing markets, has achieved the ISO 9001 quality standard after just six years in operation. Company owner Richard Kelley comments: “It has meant 18 months of hard work by all employees but has already raised motivation.”

Drytac, which also has facilities in Canada and the USA, purchased the coating plant in Bristol from Rexam in 1998. It now supplies products to over 30 countries. More than £165,000 is being invested to benefit from the latest technological advances. Purchasing manager Andy Bishop says the key improvements are being made to the main coating line.

“The control mechanisms and drives are being completely upgraded using the latest industry standard control system and motor drives, with a DeviceNet network to ensure all parts of the machine communicate properly,” he explains. In future, all stock, from incoming raw materials to outgoing finished goods, will be automatically tracked via bar codes linked to our computer monitored stock control system.”
