Double E claims its new six inch lightweight model SRL-2000 strip shaft minimizes shaft weight in both light and heavy duty applications. The shaft is said to be ideal for applications involving multiple slit rewinding, and where operator lifting injuries are a concern. According to Double E, the six inch model is 20 per cent lighter than the standard SR-2000 strip shaft yet maintains the same strength. Its new aluminum extrusion is designed to maintain the low weight per inch, without sacrificing quality and durability. The proprietary design employs nine wear resistant gripping elements to hold cores securely while minimizing core distortion. The new lightweight shaft can also be upgraded with a self centring feature. This has supporting strips that help to keep rolls centred on the shaft to reduce roll bounce and vibration during winding.
