Dotrix has secured the first European installation for its revolutionary single-pass digital inkjet press at PortionPack Europe Holding BV, based in northern Holland.
The company specialises in individual portions of food and non-food products and produces 8bn portion packs each year The company employs 850 people and expects a turnover of between EUR135-140m this year.
Print is currently undertaken by 15 offset presses. The decision to extend into a digital operation was prompted by the possibilities to save on plate and cylinder costs, increase flexibility, provide shorter run lengths, reduce stocks held on site, enter test marketing application markets and turn jobs around more quickly.
