Skincare brand Dermalogica has selected Aptar Beauty + Home’s fully recyclable mono-material pump, dubbed Future, for its new cleansing range.

The recyclable mono-material pump will be used for Dermalogica’s new cleansing products such as Special Cleansing Gel, UltraCalming Cleanser, and Clearing Skin Wash.

Aptar global sustainability vice president Beth Holland said: “We are very proud that our partner, Dermalogica, has chosen to support our journey to a more circular economy by selecting our fully recyclable, mono-material, and e-commerce capable solution for their upcoming skincare launch.”

Aptar’s experts have used eco-design principles during the development of a concept for the Future pump to minimise the environmental footprint of the product.

The new pump is produced using polyethylene (PE), which is the common material used to make bottles. By using Future pump, the complete packaging, including pump and bottle, can be efficiently recycled, said Aptar.

Dermalogica CEO Aurelian Lis said: “As the industry leader, we have both an opportunity and a responsibility to make a positive impact, not just in professional treatment rooms and on our customers’ skin, but on the environment.

“Being the first prestige skincare brand to incorporate these mono-material pumps is a significant way we can create a cleaner earth for future generations.”

The Future pump also features an easy-to-use on/off locking system, which includes a ring that opens or locks the pump with an accompanying double-click sound.

The pump also incorporates a 360° degree rotator, which enables to freely orient the actuator. Brands will be provided with an option to select several different ring colours for customisation.

Developed for e-commerce, Future pump has ISTA 6 compliance to make it withstand the risks related to transport and distribution network pressures, as well as necessitates less protective carton and paper packaging.

In September last year, Aptar Beauty + Home, a business unit of AptarGroup, had launched a new recyclable mono-material known as Purity Lite.
