The Delta Group, a London-based visual communications provider, has purchased Electronics For Imaging’s (EFI) Nozomi C18000 single-pass and ultra-high-speed LED inkjet corrugated packaging press.

Expected to install this summer, the Nozomi press features high-end grayscale imaging capabilities and provides speeds up to 246 linear feet (75 linear meters) per minute.

Nozomi press will allow Delta to carry out short-run, medium-run and complex versioned jobs, which are costly to produce using analog post-print flexo or litho lam processes.

Established in 1991, Delta Group is a visual communications specialist, which offers advanced solutions for retailers, brands, and entertainment companies.

The press is provided with a new EFI Fiery digital front end (DFE) that helps in accurate job processing.

The 71-inch wide Nozomi press holds capacity to print six colors and white, as well as provides flexibility to run same grades of single and double-channel board.

Delta Group chief operating officer Martin Shipp said: “The Delta Group have been following the progress of ‘single pass’ printing keenly over the past 12 months. We can see how this is going to be a game changer for many sectors, not only ours.

Nozomi press also allows to avoid multiple challenges associated with digital corrugated board production, in addition to offering accurate brand color reproduction.

The press features fully integrated and programmable top- and bottom-feed system, which deals with media separation, lift, transport and alignment at full press speeds.

“The Nozomi came on top when we were looking at production speed, material handling options, ink type, speed to market, cost per copy, and format size.”

Earlier this month, Smurfit Kappa also announced that it is investing in Nozomi C18000 single-pass LED inkjet corrugated packaging press at one of its plants in Iberia.

The facility is engaged in the manufacturing of various boxes and trays, including ready-to-sell packaging with full-color imaging.
