Based in Collecorvino of Pescara, Diatec is engaged in the manufacturing of converting machines for the hygiene and food packaging industries.

As per terms of the deal, the two current shareholding families will hold the remaining 30% interest in Diatec.

Andritz Nonwoven division manager Andreas Lukas said: “We are very excited about this complementary acquisition that extends our market coverage, process technology, and product range within the nonwovens industry.”

Founded in 1992, Diatec designs and manufactures a range of special machines and technological solutions, specifically for the production of food packaging, as well as baby diapers and other absorbent hygiene products.

Diatec produces D-Tech machinery solutions for various product applications, including food packaging, lamination engineering solutions and baby care solutions.

The D-Tech food pad machine has been developed to produce different pad sizes and colours suitable for different trays and applications.

The machine offers flexibility to produce a wide variety of pads ranging from 50mm to 300 mm in width and 75mm to 700mm in length with single or double lanes.

The acquisition will allow Andritz to expand its nonwoven product portfolio, in addition to offering the complete supply and value chain ranging from the raw material, to webfoming, finishing and converting.

Diatec general manager Luigi Mancini said: “With Andritz, we have found our ideal partner to strengthen our international market position and we are looking forward to growing further within this collaboration.”

Andritz supplies plants, equipment, and services for the pulp and paper industry, as well as for hydropower stations and the metal working and steel industries.

The firm offers equipment for the production of nonwovens, dissolving pulp panelboard and recycling plants.
