Rigid packaging products provider Crown Holdings is set to construct a new aluminium beverage can manufacturing facility in Nevada, US.

Located in Mesquite, the new 355,000ft² two-line facility will produce standard and speciality beverage cans for the firm’s customers in various categories such as carbonated soft drinks, sparkling water, energy drinks, hard seltzers, beer and ready-to-drink cocktails.

Crown stated that the facility is believed to enhance the firm’s ability to support the growth of new beverage introductions in aluminium cans, in addition to serving existing customers in the Western US.

Crown Holdings president and CEO Timothy Donahue said: “This investment, underpinned by long-term customer contracts, continues to demonstrate Crown’s commitment to meet the increased demand for aluminium beverage cans.

“Consumers continue to seek beverage options predominantly in cans and are increasingly aware of the sustainability benefits of the aluminium can.

“On behalf of Crown, I would like to thank our many partners for their coordinated efforts in this initiative, including the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development, Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance, Mesquite City Public Works and Development Services, and Cody Law and Colton Teerlink of Citywide Consultants who served as advisors to the City of Mesquite, Nevada.”

Slated to be operational in the second quarter of 2023, the new aluminium beverage can manufacturing facility is expected to create up to 126 new jobs.

In January this year, Crown announced plans to construct a new beverage can manufacturing facility in the US state of Virginia.
