Flexible packaging solutions provider Coveris has installed a fully-automated Universal X6 slitter at its manufacturing facility in Louth, Lincolnshire, UK to support its growth in the Biaxially-Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP) label beverage market.

Coveris said that the new technology provides high-speed efficiency, accuracy, and automation in the production of BOPP labels and has also increased the site’s capacity to about three billion labels each year.

Reel-fed BOPP labels are generally used in the PET bottling industry for water, dairy-based and carbonated drinks.

The company aims further growth in the BOPP label sector while accompanying its existing beverage packaging impression in plain and printed collation shrink film, pressure-sensitive (self-adhesive) labels, stretch sleeve and shrink sleeve formats.

In October this year, the firm has invested in new generation multi-layer extrusion and pre-stretch assets to improve coextruded film capacity at its facility in Winsford, UK.

The investment has been made to upgrade its offering in stretch film production for industrial and agricultural applications.

In September this year, Coveris has launched new products to its sustainable range of products at FachPack 2019 trade show held in Nuremberg, Germany.

The firm said that it will launch several types of materials that increase the product shelf life while minimising material waste.
