Switzerland-based plastic cap and closure manufacturer Corvaglia Group is planning to invest $25m to build a new manufacturing facility in the US.

Planned to be built in Coweta County in Newnan, Georgia, the facility is expected to complement the company’s factories in Eschlikon, Switzerland and Ixtlahuaca, Mexico which manufacture a range of plastic caps and closures for PET containers.

Corvaglia Closures USA president and general manager James Fisher said: “This is a major strategic step in Corvaglia’s history that positions us well to serve the US market.

“The Newnan, Georgia location positions us well for operational success, and the sense of community aligns with our core values.”

Scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2018, the new facility will be equipped Corvaglia’s digital printing technology as well as in-house proprietary moulds to manufacture lightweight one-piece caps and closures for the North American beverage market.

Coweta County Board of Commissioners chairman AL Smith said: “We are extremely proud that Corvaglia Group has selected Coweta County for its first US manufacturing facility.

“Coweta County is always looking for innovators in their field and Corvaglia certainly fits what we are seeking to make our county a better place.

“We look forward to working with the Group in providing quality jobs for the people of Coweta County.”
