Corning has partnered with Gerresheimer to speed up the deliveries of Valor glass to the pharmaceutical packaging market.
The Corning Valor glass can be used to store and deliver injectable drugs. It is damage resistant due to its chemical durability and can protect different drug products.
Corning and Gerresheimer have been working together since 2015 for the pharmaceutical glass packaging market.
Gerresheimer CEO Uwe Röhrhoff said: “Valor Glass is a remarkable Type I glass with outstanding performance on every attribute.”
German-based manufacturer Gerresheimer is engaged into pharmaceutical and cosmetics packaging.
The corning valor glass improves increased throughput and offers higher levels of quality assurance for pharmaceutical companies, and higher-quality medicines for patients.
Recently, Corning has colloborated with pharmaceutical companies Merck and Pfizer to deliver glass packaging solution for injectable drugs in vials and cartridges.
Initially, Corning has stated that it is making an investment of $500m and create 1,000 new U.S. jobs as the first part of a planned investment of $4 billion and 4,000 new high-tech jobs.
Merck's chairman and CEO Kenneth Frazier said: “Biologics today are on the leading edge of scientific innovation, and Valor Glass represents a similar advancement in materials science: glass that is purpose-built for medicines and vaccines.”
US-based Corning is into glass, ceramics and related materials manufacturing. It includes manufacturing of resistant cover glass for smartphones and tablets precision glass for advanced displays; optical fiber, wireless technologies and others.
