Constellium’s Aeral is an advanced aluminium solution developed for the production of aerosol containers with the support of Drawn and Wall Ironing (DWI) technology, which is presently used in the production of beverage cans.

The DWI technology enables up to 30% weight savings compared against multiple traditional impact extrusion containers, as well as helps to maintain the same level of performance in terms of resistance to pressure and ductility.

The technology, along with Moravia Cans’ packaging systems, will enable to pack 20% more cans per packet, allowing to minimize truck and pallet movements and end-customer to decrease its carbon footprint.

Constellium noted that Aeral is the same alloy that is used for beverage cans, enabling to improve recycling capabilities compared against the standard aerosol cans.

Aeral also support customers to meet their commitment towards sustainability and also in the development of advanced recyclable solutions.

Aluminium, which is said to be a sustainable material for packaging, preserves the quality of products and can be recycled maximum.

Constellium customer technical support manager Hervé Vichery said: “We are honored to be the first to provide DWI technology for a Personal Care aerosol that offers a wide range of operational benefits, while meeting the pressure resistance and aesthetical requirements of a cosmetics company.

“Due to the flexibility and performance level of our product, we foresee a growing demand for Aeral among aerosol manufacturers.”
