The Uganda Export Promotion board (UEPB) has urged industries to improve the packaging standards, so that their packaged goods can compete in the international market. The agency said that improved packaging will increase the export of finished goods by 10%.

Despite optimum production of many goods, improper packaging has deprived their goods being sold in the large international market, said the regulatory body, reports observer.ug.

Margherita Industries managing director Musiimenta Bakeine said it is unable to export many finished goods due to improper packaging.

UEPB has appointed six packaging trainers and 30 certified trade advisors to improve the packaging of Uganda’s products and its competitiveness in the international market.
