Speciality pharmaceutical company CMP Pharma has introduced its CaroSpir (Spironolactone Oral Suspension, 25 mg/5 mL) in a unit dose cup packaging.

CaroSpir is claimed to be the first and only oral liquid dosage form of the potassium-sparing diuretic spironolactone approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The new unit dose packaging will allow health care providers to administer CaroSpir easily.

The 5mL cups consist of a single pre-measured dose of CaroSpir, thereby enabling to save time and reduce product waste.

It will also enable to minimise the risk associated with the handling of medications that should not be crushed and reduce the strain of administration.

The single-dose package is said to facilitate the better use of nursing resources by waiving the time required for pouring at the bedside.

CMP Pharma CEO Gerald Sakowski said: “CaroSpir is a convenient, safe, and approved liquid option for patients who need it, and the new unit dose cup makes administering CaroSpir even easier for busy healthcare workers.”

The company is offering the unit dose CaroSpir in cartons of 10 cups and 5mL per cup. It is also marketed in 118 mL and 473 mL bottles.

With 24-month dating, all formulations are produced and tested at the company’s FDA-inspected GMP manufacturing facility in Farmville, North Carolina.

CMP Pharma is involved in the development and manufacturing of a portfolio of high-value pharmaceutical products, including liquids and semi-solids.
