According to DuPont and Esko-Graphics, the last 12 months have seen a marked increase in sales of Esko-Graphics Cyrel Digital Imager CDIs in the UK, supported by their relationship with DuPont, who have sold seven machines in the last year.

The two companies have worked closely to meet the surge in market demand from a wide range of repro houses and producers who want to bring plate making in-house.

Paul Bates, Esko-Graphics’ UK sales manager for packaging says: “Our relationship with DuPont right across Europe is increasingly important to us as every customer wants to work with a reliable and flexible plate supplier. Customers need the reassurance that when they make the investment to bring plate making in-house, they have no concerns regarding plate availability and quality. The packaging sector demands high standards of print quality and durability and the last 12 months was our busiest year yet in terms of CDI installations.”

Boyd Cushing, DuPont UK sales manager, says: “The market today is driving the need for flexo to continue making quality leaps versus the other printing processes. There has definitely been a lot of activity in this market, as the increase in competition for quality flexo work carries on gathering pace.

“Flexo is now not just an alternative process, but also the preferred option for many many brand owners. It is our role as the original pioneers of digital to keep ahead of the game and to keep flexo as the number one choice for packaging designers. We are also now seeing a new and marked expansion of this technology into growing markets – most recently in Ireland.”
