Amcor has entered into an agreement to purchase the PET injection and blow molding assets of Embotelladoras Arca S.A. de C.V. (Arca) and supply PET bottles to Arca with an initial supply agreement of eight years. Arca is the second largest Coca Cola bottling franchise in Mexico. Amcor will purchase the PET on site injection and blow moulding assets of Arca for around $60M payable in annual instalments throughout the life of the contract.

Alcan has sold its Fibrenyle rigid plastics packaging business in the UK to Polimoon of Norway. Fibrenyle employs approximately 640 people at four factories in Beccles, Norwich, Sutton-in-Ashfield and Thetford.

Wet glue labels specialist, IIlochroma Labelling Group, has teamed up with Spear, supplier of clear film pressure-sensitive labelling services, to found a joint venture company – IlloSpear – to “better service their customers in the beer industry”.

Impress is to acquire Nestlé’s end-making facility in Hjoerring, Denmark. The Hjoerring facility specialises in the manufacture of peelable ends and closures for cans containing Nestlé’s powdered milk products. The agreement is linked to a long-term supply contract for the continuing supply of peelable ends and closures to Nestlé operating companies.

Specialist in plastic print and packaging solutions, Burall PlasTec, has been awarded the British Retail Consortium and the Institute of Packaging, packaging standard, establishing its credentials as a packaging supplier to the food sector. It requires the adoption of a formal hazard analysis system, a documented technical management system and the control of factory environmental standards, products, processes and personnel.
